Industrial instrument compliance

Are you confident that workers are being paid correctly under the various Agreements and Award?
Are workers on above-award arrangements regularly reconciled to ensure compliance?

Compliance risks are real; Fair Work Australia are always looking for non-compliant organisations whether intention or unintended. Regulatory fines and reputational damage are not what you need…e-v-e-r. SnP Consulting offer services to investigate and highlight potential areas of compliance risk to give you peace of mind.

SnP Consulting offer services to firstly check that each worker is covered by the correct industrial instrument then check recent payments are correct against each instrument. The Review will assess payments made against the agreed interpretation of a strategic cross-section of worker timesheets, across each industrial instrument. The BOOT test will also be applied to targeted groups of workers. Based on the findings of these initial discovery activities, compliance risks can be assess and inform decisions on further analysis and/ or remediation activities.

Leave Administration and Management

Ensuring leave accruals and entitlements are correct is just as important as direct payments. Long Service Leave is not simple and not every payroll system can be accurately configurated to the letter of the law, so to speak. Incorrect separation payments can also be traced back to inaccuracies in leave management, either in the taking and/or the accruals. SnP can assist to review the leave accruals, including TOIL and LSL and check the accruals, entitlements and payments on separation are also correct.

Process Review

The Process Review targets key processes. As the organisation grows and the workforce changes, legislation changes, the system and processes may become misaligned.  It is common for process work-arounds to evolve because of missing/outdated system configuration. Processes need to be assessed periodically to ensure they have a purpose and are efficient.

System Configuration Review

Systems and processes should work together to provide an efficient, controlled and accurate workflow.  Processes, and technology platforms should be working together, not working around each other. Typically a Process Review and a System Configuration review are conducted together. However, sometime just one piece of configuration may need investigation, e.g. superannuation configuration or leave accruals, in which case SnP can target specific areas of functionality.

Superannuation Compliance

Set and forget or set and regret? It is very easy to miss a simple flag against a pay code/ pay element / wage type, in the payroll system; however the consequences can be disastrous. Changes to superannuation legislation, new pay elements, and system configuration changes can cause superannuation configurations, and subsequently calculations, to be incorrect for one employee, groups of employees, or the entire payroll. SnP offer a Super audit to support your organisation to meet their super obligations.

Governance and Controls

You payroll governance sets the rules, policies, and regulations for your payroll operations; creating the broad framework for how people and processes work to ensure transparency, accountability, responsibility, and deft risk management. SnP can support your organisation to manage the risk management of payroll fraud, poor payroll record keeping, employee misclassification, and potentially underpayment or overpayments.
